While doing a little R&R from working on the albums, we've been working with Daniel of Exodus films on a little "Reality TV" project. Here's a rough cut of episode 1.

Reflections of Darkness - Review

HOODOOENGINE’s target is to bring on the psychotic and brain-shattering music to the “dystopian generation”, fusing influences as TOOL, SKINNY PUPPY, KMFDM, MINISTRY (I’d suspect KOMBAT UNIT on the list too, there’s something about drumming that makes me think of FRONT 242 as well) into their unique brewery of sound ready to pummel you out of any comfort zone you might wish to cling to. Your wish is not to be granted and if you’re an experienced psychonaut already, you’re not going to put on a safety belt for the listen to ‘EgoWhore’ anyway.

If you make it to ‘Level 5’ you - the listening intruder - already had been through several confrontations with your screwed self in a screwed up society and had several masks of sanity torn. And if you think of escaping into some weird cults (those with high self-caused mortality in particular) thrown in at ‘Elohim’ beware re-cycled brainwashing will be confronted so you might see the thought perished right there, or at least perishing. Their last ‘Venomous Minds’ should leave you nicely disorientated, very strong and leaves the album on a high. The shreds of death-metal feel to the contrasting vocal here and there were a cool touch to that track too.

I’d have preferred the vocals to be more above the surface of the instrumentation; it’d have been even more of a slaughter of the listener’s senses. Regardless, this is strong enough and you know you deserve it so put them on already.

Another hoodooengine review

Hoodoo Engine doesn't fall in with the rest of the "We're so industrial we shit hot rivets" crowd. For a six man collaborative from west Philly they've done a fine job of providing the listener with a nice dose of their angst producing what, in my opinion, is a unique bundle of aural stimulation that either makes you move or makes you scratch your head - then makes you give it another go-round or 10.

Containing nine tracks which come in at under 45 minutes, "EgoWhore" barrels through the collaborative's hive-mind in a fast-paced, take no prisoners manner making for something short, swee to the point and memorable. Industrial enthusiasts will find this quite the satisfying treat in a sea of clone industrial and no hot rivets pooped out. Just solid machinery.

HoodooEngine (formerly MTW) in the studio part 2

Professional lunatic James Curcio takes over again for an episode and brings you back into the studio with MTW (now HoodooEngine). This episode takes us even further out of the realm of good taste than the first, through a melange of tracks in progress, various prank phone calls, conversation outtakes, and flat out mind-fucks. Topics include independent music production techniques, catheters as tripping toys, amyl nitrate, psychological malaises of suburbia, voodoo, trickster Gods, and a lot more.

The tracks in this episode are taken from HoodooEngine's upcoming release Murder The World, and two tracks from Captain Zombie, another project being cultured in this dank basement. The outro track is provided by DJ Homicidal Rapist. Check out the albums when they’re released if we don’t all OD on cough syrup and fermented yak semen, or invoke a wrathful demon that replaces all of our bodily fluids with nutella.

A quick announcement for those that'd been following the production (and podcasts- listen) tied to Murder The World:
